Following the success of Sören Sangkuhl's book, originally released in 2018 and subsequently reprinted, the Dutch publisher Kintaro is now offering a third edition of 'Japanese Flora'. In other good news, this release is expanded by an additional 40 pages. As the name suggests, the book is an in-depth graphic exploration of the flower motifs used in Japanese art that are also used in tattooing (cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, peonies, etc.). The author, who is also a tattoo artist specialising in the style, based in Switzerland, lets his imagination run free, multiplying the variations and compositions. The drawings are as much appreciated for the references they offer to professionals as for the simple pleasure of contemplating them or for the inspiration for future tattoos.
