The comic strip "Lever l'encre" follows the peregrinations of Cookie Kalkair who went to the four corners of the world to get tattoos. The author of the comic strip ("Guerilla Green" or "Pénis de table") sketches the places that mark his journey in France, Europe and elsewhere, but also the tattoo artists to whom he chooses to entrust a piece of his skin. These discoveries and encounters, presented in the form of a travel diary illustrated with drawings and photographs, are a pretext for him to discover the different cultures of tattooing, to evoke the old-school style in the ports of Amsterdam, the irezumi (traditional Japanese tattoo) in Tokyo, or the Polynesian tatau in Tahiti. They are also an opportunity to exchange with other tattooed people on the motivations of each one to want to mark their skin, tattooing being a universal practice as old as the history of humanity, as this album reminds us in an original way.
