The British Museum in London is devoting an exhibition to the Japanese drawing giant in which it is presenting some one hundred of his drawings that have never been seen before. The creator of the world-famous print "The Great Wave of Kanagawa", but also a great teacher and author of numerous collections of drawings for students, set out at the end of his life, between 1820 and 1830, to create an encyclopaedia which unfortunately never saw the light of day. For this 'Great Picture Book of All Things', in which Hokusai wanted to show the origins of Buddhism in India, ancient China and nature, the artist produced 103 black and white drawings. Rediscovered in 2019, they are currently on display at the British Museum in an exhibition entitled 'Hokusai: The Great Picture Book of Everything'. For those lucky enough to be visiting from overseas, it is open until 30 January 2022. Web : https://www.britishmuseum.org/exhibitions/hokusai-great-picture-book-everything
